We’ve Decorated This Venue
VintageBASH has been decorating and styling weddings since 2017, including celebrations at Old Mill Toronto. One of the things that makes this Toronto wedding venue fun to work with is how much character the space already has. The wood beams, chandeliers, large windows, warm interiors, and historic details create a strong starting point for wedding décor. Rather than covering that character up, floral and décor choices can be used to complement it.
For this Old Mill Toronto wedding, the design leaned into that existing atmosphere with white florals, greenery, candlelight, and warm-toned reception details. The result feels classic without looking overly formal, allowing the venue itself to remain part of the story.
About Old Mill Toronto
Located along the Humber River in Toronto’s west end, Old Mill Toronto is a historic wedding venue with a mix of heritage architecture, garden spaces, and traditional reception rooms.
Established in 1914, the venue offers more than 25,000 square feet of event space across 16 rooms, giving couples plenty of options for both intimate weddings and larger celebrations.
One of the biggest advantages of an Old Mill Toronto wedding is the variety of spaces available throughout the day. Couples can host their ceremony in the chapel or garden before moving into one of the venue’s reception rooms for dinner and dancing. The different spaces also make it possible to create distinct moments throughout the celebration while keeping everything within the same venue.
Inside, the reception rooms bring their own character through chandeliers, wood details, large windows, and warm architectural features. Outside, the grounds and surrounding Humber River setting offer another backdrop for portraits and quieter moments between parts of the celebration.
The venue also offers a range of catering options, including served dinners, buffets, and High Tea, making it flexible for different wedding formats and guest experiences.
“The Old Mill was the perfect venue for our wedding reception. They did their best to accommodate special requests (like long tables), and were professional, polished and so prompt in responding to any questions or inquiries we had along the way. From the initial tour to the closing of the dance floor on the day of our wedding, the experience was great! The Westminster room is gorgeous, as are the grounds. The food was excellent—we received positive feedback from our guests. Thanks to everyone who made our reception so special!”
Another couple shared:
“We held our wedding here in Old Mill in April and it was a simple and beautiful wedding. The location is great. They have the chapel or garden for ceremony and multiple rooms to choose from for your venues. This is great venue if you don’t want to travel far from ceremony to reception. I would like to thank the staff of Old Mill as they made our wedding stress-free as they are expert in handling the events from ceremony to the reception. Their food is great too and their price is not that expensive compared with other venues.”
Our Wedding at Old Mill Toronto
For this Old Mill Toronto wedding, the floral and décor design worked with the venue rather than trying to transform it completely. The ceremony photos show a traditional setting with white florals and greenery adding softness to the space. The greenery frames the existing architecture, while the white blooms keep the overall look clean and classic.
As the celebration moved into the reception, the décor shifted naturally with the room. Warm gold curtains, dark wood beams, crystal chandeliers, and candlelight created a richer evening atmosphere. White floral arrangements were placed throughout the space, adding continuity from the ceremony without taking attention away from the venue’s existing details.
There are also plenty of candid moments throughout the celebration — guests gathered around tables, friends taking photos, and the couple enjoying the reception with their guests. Those moments are what make the décor feel lived-in rather than overly staged.
The photos also show how much personality can come from the venue itself. From the historic interiors to the garden surroundings and dramatic reception lighting, Old Mill Toronto wedding décor doesn’t need to compete with the setting. The best pieces simply add to what’s already there.
The Couple’s Experience with VintageBASH
“VintageBash did the flowers for my wedding this past spring and they were amazing! Communicated with me to ensure the flowers exactly matched the vision. I wanted simple, minimalistic flowers that allowed the venue to speak for itself and they achieved exactly that. Would recommend to anyone!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you decorate weddings at Old Mill Toronto?
Yes. VintageBASH provides wedding décor and floral styling for Old Mill Toronto weddings. The venue already has plenty of visual character — chandeliers, dark wood, traditional architectural details and warm lighting — so décor can be designed around those features rather than covering them up.
Do you provide fresh flowers for Old Mill Toronto weddings?
Yes. Fresh florals can be used for bridal bouquets, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and other arrangements. For this wedding, fresh white and soft blush peonies were used for the bouquets, while white ranunculus appeared in the boutonnieres and corsages.
Fresh flower varieties are subject to season and availability, so substitutions may sometimes be needed while staying within the requested colour palette.
Do you offer wedding décor packages?
Yes. Wedding décor can combine florals, ceremony backdrops, centrepieces, candles, signage, sweetheart table styling and smaller accents throughout the reception. For this celebration, white floral arrangements and clear candle vessels worked especially well against the darker Tudor-style interiors.
Can ceremony décor be reused at the reception?
In many cases, yes. This wedding is a good example: the split-moon floral arch was planned to move behind the sweetheart table, with its grounded floral arrangements repositioned in front.
That kind of repurposing gives an installation a second moment during the day instead of leaving it behind once the ceremony ends. Transfer fees and logistics depend on the décor, timing and whether the ceremony and reception are at the same location.
Do you handle setup and teardown at Old Mill Toronto?
Yes. VintageBASH can coordinate delivery, installation, styling, setup and teardown. For this wedding, the service included a setup window as well as pickup and teardown arrangements. This is particularly useful at a venue with multiple event rooms, where timing and access need to be considered alongside the design.
Can you decorate both the ceremony and reception?
Yes. VintageBASH can style both parts of the wedding, whether everything happens at Old Mill Toronto or the ceremony is held elsewhere. Old Mill Toronto itself offers an on-site chapel and Secret Garden for ceremonies, along with multiple reception spaces.
For this particular wedding, the ceremony was held in Woodbridge before guests continued to the reception at Old Mill Toronto.
How far in advance should we book wedding florals and décor?
Earlier is better, especially if your wedding falls during a busy Toronto wedding season or you have specific rental pieces in mind. VintageBASH bookings are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so availability can vary by date.
