We’ve Decorated at Ancaster Mill

VintageBASH has been decorating and styling weddings since 2017, working with couples who want their florals and wedding décor to feel connected to the venue. Ancaster Mill is especially fun to decorate because the setting already has so much character. Between the historic mill, surrounding greenery, stonework, and waterfall, there’s plenty for the floral design to play off of. For this wedding, the couple leaned into a whimsical garden-party style. Soft florals, greenery, and delicate details brought the outdoor setting indoors, while the reception décor kept the look light and romantic

About Ancaster Mill Wedding Venue

Located in Ancaster, Ontario, Ancaster Mill is a historic wedding venue set beside the water and surrounded by the natural landscape of the Niagara Escarpment. The property combines a historic stone mill with gardens, greenery, and views of the cascading falls. It’s the kind of venue where you can get a lot of visual variety without having to travel between locations.

Weddings at Ancaster Mill

The venue has hosted weddings and celebrations for decades, and its spaces offer a mix of indoor and outdoor settings for different parts of the wedding day. The surrounding property gives couples plenty of opportunities for photos, while the historic mill provides a warm backdrop for the reception. With the waterfall and greenery nearby, even the quieter moments of the day have plenty of natural scenery around them.

It’s also a venue where the guest experience matters. Couples have highlighted the attentive wedding-day staff, food, planning support, and the way the team helps keep the day moving.

An Ancaster Mill wedding has a distinctly nature-forward feel. Couples can take advantage of the property’s outdoor surroundings for portraits and ceremonies, then transition into the historic interiors for dinner and dancing. The architecture also means the venue doesn’t need heavy décor to feel complete. Instead, floral arrangements can be used to add colour and personality while letting the existing stone, wood, windows, and surrounding landscape remain part of the design.

For this celebration, that meant bringing the garden-party feeling into the reception with soft florals and greenery. The result felt connected to the outdoor setting rather than separated from it.

We had our wedding at the Ancaster Mill on October 25, 2024 and we cannot say enough positive things about this place. From the moment we first made contact with the Mill we were supported in every way imaginable. Everything ran so smoothly on the day off and they will provide you with a maître de and a concierge that will literally be with you ALL day long. Anything that needs to be dealt with they are on it. We cannot say enough positive things about our maître de, Lily and our events consultant, Katelynn and everyone else in between that made the day memorable. They even provided us with a gift which was so kind of them. All of our guests cannot stop raving about the food and the beauty of this venue. If we were to get married again it wouldn’t even be a question about where we would pick, we would pick this venue over and over again. Thank you to everyone who made our wedding day so special!.”

Another couple shared:

“I could go on and on about how wonderful Ancaster Mill was for our wedding, but I’ll keep it short and sweet. If you are considering this venue, you should absolutely book your wedding here! From the gorgeous grounds to the breathtaking ceremony space and the architecture in the reception areas, you don’t have much to do to beautify the venue for your wedding. The staff are all so professional and truly lovely. You have a Maitre D *and* a concierge on your wedding day and a dedicated planner supporting you throughout the process. The food is exceptional. An open bar is included in the price. It’s honestly everything you’d want in a wedding venue. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Every penny.”

Toronto Wedding Florist & Decorator

This Ancaster Mill wedding was all about bringing a garden-party feeling into the historic venue. The floral design leaned soft and romantic, with arrangements filled with pastel blooms and plenty of greenery. The bride and wedding party carried floral bouquets that felt loose and garden-inspired rather than overly structured.

The ceremony décor continued that garden-inspired direction. Greenery and flowers framed the space without taking attention away from the surrounding landscape and architecture.

The reception kept the same colour story. Floral arrangements were placed throughout the tables, adding texture and colour against the neutral interiors. The design felt full without turning the room into a sea of flowers.

The Details

VintageBASH provided the florals, décor, and bouquets for the celebration, using mostly silk flowers throughout the design. That choice worked particularly well for the garden-party concept. The arrangements could have the fullness and movement of fresh garden flowers while remaining consistent throughout the ceremony and reception.

The couple also incorporated floral details into the reception and surrounding spaces, creating a visual connection between the different parts of the day.

What a Couple Said About VintageBASH

Here’s what one of our couples shared after their wedding day.

“We hired Vintage Bash to do the florals decor and bouquets for our wedding, and they absolutely nailed it! I had a whimsical garden party vision in mind, and they brought it to life so beautifully — every detail was stunning. We used mostly silk flowers, but so many guests couldn’t believe they weren’t real. That’s how lifelike and gorgeous everything looked!

The entire process was seamless, and the team was incredibly reliable and easy to work with from start to finish. I would 100% recommend Vintage Bash to any couple looking for high-quality, breathtaking decor and florals. They truly exceeded our expectations!”

Frequently Asked Questions About Ancaster Mill Weddings

Do you decorate weddings at Ancaster Mill?

Yes. VintageBASH provides wedding florals and décor for celebrations at Ancaster Mill. For this wedding, the work included personal flowers, reception table florals, a head-table floral runner, a faux floral backdrop, and aisle arrangements.

Because Ancaster Mill already has a strong connection to its surrounding landscape, floral décor can lean into that garden-and-nature feel rather than trying to completely change the space.

Do you provide fresh flowers for Ancaster Mill weddings?

Yes. The invoice for this wedding included fresh bridal and wedding-party flowers, as well as 60 fresh bud-vase arrangements using 1–2 stems each.

VintageBASH also used faux flowers for some of the larger décor pieces, including the floral backdrop, aisle arrangements, and head-table runners.

Do you offer wedding décor packages?

VintageBASH offers both À La Carte services and full-service packages. The invoice for this Ancaster Mill wedding was structured as an À La Carte order, with individual floral pieces selected based on the couple’s needs. The service terms also note that larger or more complicated installations may be priced as full-service work.

That makes it possible to focus the floral budget on the pieces that matter most, whether that’s bouquets, ceremony décor, reception flowers, or a larger installation.

Do you handle setup and teardown?

The provided 17hats invoice doesn’t specify wedding-day setup or teardown services. It does show client pickup and return arrangements for the rented floral décor, with pickup and return taking place at the VintageBASH studio.

For a full-service wedding, setup and teardown should be confirmed with VintageBASH when requesting a proposal, especially for larger floral installations.

How far in advance should we book?

The invoice doesn’t specify a required booking lead time, so there isn’t a venue-specific booking window I can confirm from the provided materials.

As a practical recommendation, couples should reach out as early as possible, especially for weddings during peak season or when planning larger floral installations. This gives the florist more time to confirm availability, discuss the design, and plan the floral order.

Can VintageBASH mix fresh and faux flowers?

Yes. This Ancaster Mill wedding is a good example of how the two can work together.

Fresh flowers were used for the personal flowers and 60 small bud-vase arrangements, while faux flowers were used for the head-table runners, ceremony backdrop, and floor arrangements.

That approach can also make sense for larger installations where couples want a fuller floral presence without using fresh flowers for every single piece.

What floral style was used for this Ancaster Mill wedding?

The couple selected a whimsical wedding style with a palette of white, cream, blush, greenery, baby pink, and dusty blue.

The mix of soft colours, greenery, small fresh arrangements, and larger faux floral installations suited the garden-party feel of the wedding while working naturally with Ancaster Mill’s surroundings.
