What It’s Like to Get Married at the Hart House

“We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue. We picked Hart House initially because of the beauty of both the indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as personal connections to the University, but we were impressed by all aspects of their service from start to finish. We are so thankful to the Hart House team (especially Tara Munro) for making our wedding such a perfect day.

Our guests raved about the space, and some of the little ones actually believed they were in a Harry Potter movie (not our intended effect, but cool for them!). Everyone was also very impressed by the quality of the food. Some of our guests told me, unsolicited, that it was the best wedding food they’d ever had. We had enjoyed the menu items at the tasting beforehand, but I have to say we were also impressed by the quality on the day of. Staff were super friendly, professional, and helpful from start to finish, and Tara was responsive and incredibly helpful during the whole planning process. We both felt our day was perfect, and so much of that was due to how great everyone at Hart House was at doing their jobs and making sure everything went off without a hitch. Thanks again!”

Toronto Wedding Florist & Décor at the Hart House Building

This Hart House wedding brought together romantic florals, historic architecture, and a reception setup designed around the guest experience. The floral palette centred on soft purple, blush, white, and green, with bouquets featuring a loose mix of blooms and greenery. The bride’s bouquet carried that same colour story, with pops of purple and blush giving it a slightly garden-inspired feel.

The ceremony kept the focus on the venue itself. Against Hart House’s stone architecture, the floral arrangements added softness and colour while still letting the building’s historic details do their thing.

For the reception, the design became more floral-forward. Long tables were covered in white linens and lined with low arrangements featuring fresh florals, greenery, and soft purple blooms. Candles and glassware added warmth without making the tables feel crowded.

That low profile was an especially practical choice for a long-table reception. Guests could still see one another across the table, while the flowers created a continuous visual element from one end of the room to the other. The darker wood and historic interiors also gave the lighter florals some contrast. Instead of trying to transform Hart House into something completely different, the décor worked with what was already there.

VintageBash did the flowers for my wedding, including bouquets and boutonnieres, a floral arch, aisle runners and table flowers as well as a seating chart, table numbers and signs. They did an incredible job. I was a bit hesitant to use faux flowers for the arch, but I should not have doubted it as their faux flower arch looked stunning and lush. I received many compliments on the flowers at my wedding.

My wedding was at Hart House at University of Toronto and VintageBash worked with me to created a romantic theme for my wedding. The table arrangements were beautiful- I wanted floral runners and their work looked both romantic and lush, without impeding conversation over dinner. My bouquet was exactly what I pictured. They helpfully sent me preview photos and videos of the bouquets, arch and artwork ahead of time to ease my stress and give me a glimpse of what was to come.
